Wellness is a term generally used to mean a healthy balance of the mind, body and spirit that results in an overall feeling of well-being. This idea of working towards a sense of life balance and overall well-being best encompasses what I try to help each client work towards.
I emphasize helping individuals adjust and adapt to the inevitable life changes and transitions that are part of the human experience. My treatment approach is tailored to each individual’s specific needs with an overall goal of helping you attain balance and an improved and healthier level of functioning through the development of insight, self awareness, coping skills and stress management strategies. By creating a safe and supportive environment for this learning to occur, it allows individuals to increase their overall life satisfaction and quality of life while improving their ability to deal with everyday stressors.
As part of an overall wellness approach, I also emphasize overall health and well-being in my approach to treatment. Clients who need to make changes in health and wellness habits are well served by the expertise I have acquired through my extensive experience in university and hospital settings. Specifically, I work with clients looking to improve chronic pain management, addictive behaviors and relapse prevention, weight management and improving sleep quality, as well as other health-related behaviors. Additionally, I work with clients who are considering making changes to improve their health and wellness but are experiencing difficulties and/or ambivalence about getting started.
